Sick Puppies

Sick Puppies is an indie rock band from Sydney, Australia. The band was formed by singer/lead guitarist Shimon Moore and bassist Emma Anzai in the music room of Mosman High School in 1997, where the two connected because of their shared love for Silverchair. Initially with Shimon on drums and Emma on guitars, the duo would frequently meet up to play Green Day and Rage Against the Machine songs and eventually felt compelled to write their own songs. Soon Chris Mileski was added to the band to fill in on drums. After the independent release of their debut EP in 1999, Sick Puppies received some attention from Australian Government funded radio station Triple J. Soon after, the band released their debut full-length EP ‘Welcome To The Real World’ which, despite low sales, received some media exposure for having a cover version of Destiny’s Child’s hit single ‘Say My Name’ pulled from it due to a threat from the American trio’s record label. After the release of their 2005 EP ‘Fly’, Sick Puppies musical style changed directions from nu-metal to more of an alt-rock sound. Some success in America followed soon after due to their song ‘All The Same’ being used as the soundtrack to a video for a Free Hugs campaign. That song was then used in the band’s 2nd full-length album ‘Dressed Up As Life in early 2007’. « hide
