Whether or not it was by design, the artist anonymously recording under the Rrose alias came to define the final phase of one of contemporary techno's greatest imprints, Sandwell District, who called time on their fiercely independent operation at the end of 2011. The enigmatic, Duchamp-referencing producer has over the past few years been working with an elemental approach to techno that's as mental as it is physical, with works full of strict rhythmics, repetitive hypnotic patterns and studious device effects employment.
