Nuclear Death were an American death metal band from Phoenix Arizona formed in 1986. In its original line-up, the band consisted of Lori Bravo on bass and vocals, Phil Hampsen on guitar and Steve Cowan on drums. Steve Cowan would eventually be replaced with Joel Whitfield to form their most known line-up. Between 1986 and 1989 they released five demo tapes. In 1990 they were signed to cult American underground metal label Wild Rags Records, and would become one of the most known and promoted bands associated with the label. Their debut album
