Morning Glory

After the demise of New York squat-ska-punk band Choking Victim, two bands emerged from the ashes: Leftover Crack and INDK, with Ezra Kire sharing responcabilities in both. Then, around the time INDK were showing weakness and were about to break, Ezra, with some help from friends, started recording music for his solo project. Morning Glory is that solo prject. Armed with only a guitar, a drum machine and an 8-track Ezra wrote, recorded and released on his own Revolution Rock Records the album 'This is no time ta sleep' in 2001. The release was musically similar to that of his previous bands, but also delved into previously untouched areas. It had the ska-punk feel of Choking Victim, more straight ahead punk of INDK and also brought in hardcore, acoustic and even hip-hop influences. A year later, the album's single 'Gang Control' was rereleased along with 3 other new tracks (one of which being a live track, showing that Morning Glory was actually a real band now) under the name 'Tha Suicide Singles'. This again being self released on Revolution Rock Records. 2003, and as another year passes another Morning Glory record is released. 'The Whole World is Watching' contained 5 brand new tracks and included a full line-up of musicians. However Ezra's duties to Leftover Crack still needed to be fullfilled, and with the impending release of 'Fuck World Trade' Morning Glory took a back seat. Since then almost nothing has been heard from Morning Glory, they didn't tour, no new material was released and their website went down. However in late 2005, at a Leftover Crack show, Ezra announced that a new Morning Glory demo was nearing completion and that one track was to be contributed to the new Black Noise Records compilation. Sure enough, the compilation came out and contained the track 'All My Friends' by Morning Glory. Since then Ezra has promised a new Morning Glory release and tour in late 2006. « hide
