Their name reportedly comes from the American LGM-118 Peacekeeper missile (MX - Missile, Experimental), although later it was rethought as an acronym for Madre Xamã (roughly translating to "mother of black magic"). They were one of Brazil's leading thrash acts of the 80s, releasing two moderately successful albums and opening for renowned bands such as Testament and Exodus. In the early 90s MX disbanded after the departure of some members, reuniting briefly with a different lineup between 1997 and 2000 for two more albums in a more groove metal direction. The band has been active again since 2012, playing live shows as well as releasing new material. « hide |
