Joyfalds

Joyfalds’ music is reflective, hypnotising and –on a few occasions- way out of control. Inspired by the likes of Blonde Redhead, My Bloody Valentine and Tortoise, this Leiden-based band has been around for a few years. Its first accomplishment was 2001’s home-recorded ‘Two out of millions’. In 2004, Joyfalds releases the EP ‘Amplify’, a postrock record, which is picked up nationally. Shows are played around the country (Parkpop, Werfpop, Paradiso, Patronaat and VERA) and songs are played on the radio (3FM and KINK FM). Also, a video is released and the band is invited to join the Dommelsch Locals Only-tour, an initiative of the Dutch music magazine Live XS. This September Joyfalds released its first full-length ‘Rails’ on the Press Play Records label. Like ‘Amplify’, ‘Rails’ is recorded in Corno Zwetsloot’s Next to Jaap Studio. Mastering was done by Alan Ward. The 8 rock-pop songs on ‘Rails’ are reflective, hypnotic experiments with samples, organs and piano, alongside the traditional guitar, bass and drums set-up. Just three guys with quite a few instruments. « hide
