Human Fortress formed in 1997 under the name Timezone and split up after the first demo. They reunited and changed the band name to Human Fortress to release the debut album Lord of Earth and Heavens Heir in 2001. They would release a second album before going on hiatus and losing singer Jioti Parcharidis. They acquired Carsten Frank of Galloglass and released their third album in 2008.
