Great Cold Emptiness is an American black metal band from St. Agatha, Maine. Formed in in 2014, with the debut demo Violet Mist & Infrared Stars and following EP, Hide Thee from Light being released the following year before disbanding in 2015. The band reformed in 2018 with the release of the debut album, Miles Before I Sleep. The band is known for its atmospheric and cinematic soundscapes, heavy synth usage, and thematically follows Guerrette dit Latulippe's Acadian and New England heritage, folklore, and traditions, while also incorporating lyrical themes regarding Traditionalist Catholicism, homesteading and dark fantasy. The project has been described as being "Acadian Black Metal", as a nod to the other USBM movements based around cultural regions in the USA.
