Each song in "Dark Places" is a story that speaks to very real human experiences, including some of my own, from civic judgement and addiction to the utter brutality and dehumanization between warring factions. Everyone feels darkness from time to time. Some of us live and breathe it every single day, until we're no longer breathing at all. Some of us are having the time of our lives up to the point that we are out of life, allowing the darkness to consume our lifetime.
