After leaving The Dear Hunter, Erick Serna formed his own solo blues-rock project titled "Erick Serna and the Killing Floor". In September 2011, he released his first LP, "The Grip". The project reflects Serna's admiration for blues legends such as Jimi Hendrix and Muddy Waters, both of which he covered in his "Covers EP", released in May 2012.
