Demis Roussos was born in Alexanderia, Egypt in 15th of June 1946. His father was a Greek and his mother an Egyptian of Italian origins and after losing all their belongins during the Suez Crisis in late 1956 the moved to Greece. Roussos began his music career at the age of 17 where he formed The Idols together with Evangelos Papathanassiou (later famous as Vangelis) and Loucas Sideras. After a short spell with a local band called We Five, formed Aphrodite's Child with Vangelis and Sideras in which he was the bassist and vocalist.After the disband of Aphrodite's Child, Roussos began his solo career but recorded with Vangelis the famous ''Chariots of Fire''
