Darklands were formed in 1992 by Ariel Sanga, Robert Bergius, Jani Erickson and Erik Barthold but split up after only a few months. They
reunited with Mårten Mangefors on drums and recorded two songs for the compilation cassette "Sundsvall Underground" in April 1994. The same
year they also recorded and released their debut demo "Diablerie".
Jonas Wisén joined on drums in 1999.
They also recorded a demo titled "III" in 1995, but it was not released as the band got signed to Heathendoom Music.
