Cruel Hand is coming straight out of Maine and by the end of this year, you will have no choice but to acknowledge that
they'reearning their place at the top of the hardcore heap. The band began to turn heads in the hardcore, punk and metal
scenesshortly after the 2007 release of their debut full-lengthWithout a Pulse on 6131 Records. They played shows around the U.S.
withTrash Talk, The Mongoloids, and more, hitting the United States three times and a full European tour. The former side-
projectband only had one choice for their sophomore effort-sign with Bridge Nine Records. As guitarist Cam Foley said, "…label-
wise, wewanted to move forward and we didn't want to sidestep. When Bridge Nine showed interest in us we felt like that would be
agood way to show that we take this band seriously, it's not just a side project, and we are a real band. We knew that B9, beingthe
reputable label that it is, could get our name out there and give us opportunities we might not have had on a smaller label. We love
the guys at 6131, Joey and Greg are best friends to us, so there's only love for those dudes. We just felt like we had tostep it up."
Additionally, Bridge Nine owner Chris Wrenn said, "We couldn't be more stoked that Cruel Hand decided to go full-time.
They'reincredible musicians and they're so tight and powerful live that it was a no-brainer that we [Bridge Nine] team up with
them. We've been watching them for a while and harassing their guitarist Nate Manning shortly after we started seeing them play,
sowe're so happy to finally welcome them to the family. And the demos they sent us are insane. It's a lesson in how metal-
influenced hardcore should sound."
Cruel Hand entered Getaway Recording Studios and God City Studios in Summer 2008 and they "…went into the studio
knowingexactly how we wanted our record to sound. We were open to suggestions and ideas about how the record should come out
butwe were pretty set on how are amps were set up and how our guitars were going to sound. We knew we wanted a big, louddrum
sound which Alex Garcia-Rivera (our drum tech)was able to help us with at God City Studios. We didn't want a record thatwas
overproduced, but at the same time we weren't going to half ass anything. We wanted it to be a full on hardcore album. Wethen
recorded guitars and vocals with Jay Maas at Getaway Recording", said Cameron. The outcome? Prying Eyes, which is quitepossibly
one of the hardest records of 2008 that's just as full of catchy metallic riffage as it is mosh parts.
The band will be on tour until their next record comes out, so be on the lookout provided you live somewhere on this planet. " « hide |
