With a particularly keen ear for percussion, and a melancholic soul to a lot of his productions – he has nailed the sound that you always feel Mala’s heart is at the most.
But to think that this is all there is to him would render you sorely mistaken; there is already a range and inventiveness to his productions that will see him range across the bpms and genres in years to come. It's no surprise that he cites Madlib and MF Doom as influences, as there is a syncopation and funk to his work that only comes from a love of the poly-rhythms of jazz, and the swing of hip-hop.
It's fitting that his work has already been supported by that bastian of futuristic jazz in the UK, Mr Gilles Peterson. His tunes, both on his own and with long-time cohort Lurka, have been heavily supported by the likes of Youngsta, Mala, Distance, Pinch, Joe Nice and many more; and with his latest EP on Deep Medi about to drop, the profile and support is only going to rise.
