Campfire OK

Seattle’s Campfire OK blend atmospheric indie pop, and lyrical vocals to create a sound that is distinctly their own, while still firmly rooted in their hometown’s tradition of musical experimentation and collaboration. Seattle’s Campfire OK blend atmospheric indie pop, and lyrical vocals to create a sound that is distinctly their own, while still firmly rooted in their hometown’s tradition of musical experimentation and collaboration. Banjo, horns, acoustic guitar, dark psychedelia, and bursts of joyful sonic color weave in and out of their songs. The result is a sound that often builds like an impending thunderstorm, but is just as likely to evaporate into a blissful blue day. Campfire OK began as the creation of songwriter Mychal Cohen (vocals/piano/guitar), who, in 2010, began recording what would become CFOK’s debut album, Strange Like We Are. Multi-instrumentalist Andrew Eckes (banjo/guitar/trumpet) joined in the recording process, and the album was released in February 2011. With live performances on the horizon, drummer Brandon Milner was called upon to help bring the songs from studio to stage. In 2012, former Harvey Danger bassist Aaron Huffman came into the mix, adding a layer of urgency to CFOK’s evolving sound along with Zarni De Wet on vocals and piano. The band has signed to Fugutive Recordings and released their sophomore album, When You Have Arrived on Sept 17th, 2013. They will be promoting it on stages throughout the U.S. and Canada in the coming months. « hide
