Brokeback is the side project of Douglas McCombs, bassist of post-rock group Tortoise. The music is a minimalist fusion of jazz, rock, ambient and hip-hop influences, which has featured a number of artists from the Chicago ambient circuit such as vocalist Mary Hansen of Stereolab and trumpeter Rob Mazurek and percussionist Chad Taylor of the Chicago Underground Duo.
