Braindamage are an Italian metal band formed in Turin in 1988. Initially playing thrash, they got scouted by guitarist Geordie Walker of Killing Joke in 1989 who tried to get them signed to Noise Records though was unsuccessful. Regardless, after the release of their Watching the Bleeding Mouth EP in 1991, they toured the UK and continental Europe together with Killing Joke. Regardless, after the release of their Watching the Bleeding Mouth EP in 1991, they toured the UK and continental Europe together with Killing Joke. It is with this release that Braindamage began to shift to a more technical and progressive sound, inspired in equal parts by Canada's Voivod and their own Turinese neighbours Jester Beast. Walker also put the group in contact with legendary producer and engineer Steve Albini, who would record and mix their debut LP in 1993.
