Asko|Schönberg was formed through the merging of two namesake ensembles in 2008, having had an extensive history of performing
andrecording together under conductor Reinbert de Leeuw. They specialise in modern, avant-garde works, including but not limited to those
ofGyrögy Ligeti, Brian Ferneyhough, Gérard Grisey and The Second Viennese School, which consisted of Arnold Schönberg himself and his pupils.
