Somewhere deep in the Surrey hills, armed only with a laptop, a few choice records and a bucket load of creativity and ambition Peter Goebel AKA Arkaik
began his career within drum and bass. Fast forward twelve years and Arkaik has since become a pioneer for the stripped back and half time sound. As
an original, core artist for the infamous label Diffrent Music, Arkaik saw his first major release 'Stress Relief/Second Bass' in mid 2010 gaining him instant
recognition and a fearsome reputation as a force to be reckoned with. For Arkaik, this was just the start of a long and prosperous partnership with the
crew at Different Music, they went on to release a further three EPs from Arkaik alongside features on various LP’s, all to critical acclaim. During his
success with Diffrent Music, Arkaik managed to propel his status further when he won the Octane & DLR remix competition hosted by the mighty
Dispatch Recordings. Never one to play by the rules, in 2013 Arkaik teamed up with fellow experimentalist Axon to create a sound that was so far
removed from the normal constraints of drum and bass that it instantly caught the attention of Proximity Recordings head honcho Basher. Their
collaborative track ‘Alchemy’ became the title track for the EP and paved the way for further successful Proximity releases. 2014 proved to be an
incredibly busy year for Arkaik. After being approached by both Skutta Records and IMLTD, he put together a collection of highly successful remixes
including his rework of Pennygiles - Untold Stories. After gaining the support of a vast number of artists Arkaik made the bold decision to take a six
month hiatus in order to concentrate on DJing at some of the biggest festivals in Europe and finally, to emigrate to Shanghai, China. Since then Arkaik
has been busier than ever. In just a few short months he has completed a sell out tour of China, received musical accolade for his remixes of Red Powder
by Bredren, Gravis by Kalm & Spindall and finalised his hotly anticipated, debut release on Flexout Audio entitled “My LoveEP”.Fortunately for us, the fun
doesn’t stop there, Arkaik has since completed a number of exciting collaboration projects with the likes of Amoss, Dave Owen and Hyroglics, all set for
release mid-late 2015. As a DJ, Arkaik has a formidable reputation. After spending over a decade perfecting his craft Arkaik has played at some of the
most prestigiouseventsaround the globe including Outlook Festival, Boomtown, Shibui and Innovation in the Sun. Whilst residing in the UK, Arkaik
frequently played atanumber of prolific drum and bass events in and around Europe including Flexout Audio, Nurtured Beats, Genesis and Origins. Since
relocatingtoShanghai, Arkaik embarked on a highly successful tour of China, playing sell out shows in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu,
Chongqingandfestivals in Wulong. Upon his arrival in China, Arkaik quickly became a resident for ‘Sweatshop’ one of China’s most prestigious and long
standingdrumand bass events. « hide |
