Angizia are an avant-garde group who were formed in 1994 in Vienna by chief librettist Michael Haas. Their unique blend of folk, and classical, tinged with metal and gothic styles has often been described as highly eccentric, one source goes as far as to label it 'circus metal'. Their music is often related to historical events of the 20th Century, particularly World War II, with their 'Russian Trilogy' albums. It's final installment, "39 Jahre für den Leierkastenmann" (2001) (subtitled “Ein Stück für die Judenstadt”) is a play of three acts that narrates the misfortunes of four Russian and Jewish musicians during World War II. They are set to release their latest work sometime between 2010 and 2011, with a current working title of "kokon. Ein schaurig-schönes Schachtelstück".
