Ansur are a Norwegian band that combines black, death and extreme forms of metal, alongside progressive rock influences. They formed during 2003, with their first EP released during 2005. Their name is derived from that of a Norse/Viking rune.Since the beginning, Ansur have toyed with brief memberships, in all instrument departments. A brief history is as follows: bassist Aslak Werme would leave in 2005, leaving vocalist Espen Aulie to take the reins. Before, their second album's release, Svenne parted ways, and would be replaced by organist Audun Forde, who would quickly be replaced by the classically trained Nicolay Svennæs.
