The Mayfield Four was formed in the middle of 1996 in Spokane, Washington by four childhood friends that shared a mutual love for music and performing. They were Myles Kennedy (lead vocals/ lead guitar), Craig Johnson (rhythm guitar), Marty Meisner (bass guitar), and Zia Uddin (drums). During the Fall of 1996, the band recorded a demo titled Thirty Two Point Five Hours which quickly caught the attention of numerous music industry professionals and a bidding war ensued amongst several prominent record companies, yielding an offer from Epic Records. Once under contract with Epic, they released a live EP called Motion in late 1997. In Late 1998, they released their debut album Fallout, which was praised by critics, however after a long, tiring tour promoting the album, it performed worse than expected, failing to chart. Craig Johnson was fired from the band in 1999, leaving Myles, Marty & Zia to record their follow-up album Second Skin, which was released in 2001, with Alessandro Cortini playing Craig Johnson's rhythm guitar duties on the tour. This album was less well received by critics as the band took a more aggressive, hard rock approach. After lackluster sales, and with the album failing to chart due to failed marketing strategies, the band left Epic Records in 2002 and broke up soon after. Myles Kennedy now prominently fronts Alter Bridge as vocalist/rhythm guitarist. Alessandro Cortini currently supplies keyboard duties for Nine Inch Nails. « hide
