A self-described "Psychedelic Reggae Ska Doom Metal Punk Rock From Hell" band, The Bennies are a four-piece band from Melbourne, Australia who have quickly gained momentum from their unique combination of upbeat ska, Korg-operated psychedelic electronics and metal freakouts topped off with anthemic punk singalongs, rapping vocals, and the ever-present lyrical subject of toking on a little sensi-mi. Initially forming in 2009 under the name "Madonna", The Bennies released two albums and underwent two lineup changes with guitarists Steve and Souv before Jules Rozenbergs was added to the fold in 2012, frontman Anty Horgan recalling that they "really became a band" with this addition. 2013 was an eventful year for The Bennies in which they supported The Smith Street Band and Bomb the Music Industry!, overcame the near-death experience of the bottle-stabbing of Rozenbergs at an all ages show, released the EP BETTER OFF DREAD and the album Rainbows in Space seven months later, and finally toured China and Japan. 2014 has already seen the group embarking on their own Australian headlining "Knights Forever" tour, as well as performing on the Melbourne leg of the Soundwave Festival, one of Australia's biggest rock festivals. « hide
