Capital Cities are a synth-pop duo from Los Angeles, California formed by Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian afterfinding each other on Craigslist. After three years of writing jingles and music for commercials and ad campaigns, thetwo formed Capital Cities together and released their debut EP in 2011 under Capitol/EMI. The group began gainingexposure after they were included on Perez Hilton's "Pop Up #1" compilation and lead single "Safe and Sound" wasused in a German Vodafone commercial and went to #3 on the US Alternative charts.
