Dirty Three are an eccentric and epic three piece from Melbourne, Australia; who are highly regarded throughout victoria, and the rest of Australia. Their music is based around Warren Ellis' violent yet melancholy, beautiful, and calming violin work, and backed up by Mike Turners soothing, constant and unshadowing guitaring; and Jim Whites innovating, precise, and powerful drumming. While some might find their music too harsh on the ears to listen to, the Dirty Three create epic and uplifting music through long soundscapes and epic explosions of noise. Their last album Cinder is witness to a move away from the epic and powerful music they are known for, and toward shorter, more accessible pieces of music.
