For the recording of Bubblegun they hooked up with ex-Jellyfish vocalist/drummer Andy Sturmer who did all the drumming and produced four tracks. The album was released on Virgin Records in Japan and Scandinavia 1998 but also independently in the U.S. and Australia a couple of years later. "Under The Light Of The Moon" off Bubblegun was included on the soundtrack of the romantic comedy Love and Sex starring Jon Favreau and Famke Jensen. For the 2001 album Listen to What the man said: A Tribute to Sir Paul McCartney the Merrymakers recorded a rockin' version of "No More Lonely Nights" and were in excellent company among artists like Neil and Tim Finn from Crowded House, World Party, Matthew Sweet and Peter Buck of R.E.M. In 2007 the Merrymakers did their first public performances in 7(!) years. The first one at the Black Note in Valencia, Spain and the second at PDOL in Piteå, Sweden. in 2008 their song ”Superstar” became the anthem of the French TV show "Star Academy". Also their song "Monkey in the middle" played an important part in the soundtrack of the film "Read it and Weep" on Disney Channel. Over the last few years the Merrymakers have stood aside for other things that Hellgren/Myhr have been busy doing. Mainly building their studio Monogram in Stockholm and producing bands/artists such as PuffyAmiYumi, Dorian Gray and Yuko Yamaguchi. In 2010 the band has decided to dissolve and the members Anders Hellgren and David Myhr are now working on an individual basis. http://www.themerrymakers.net/the_Merrymakers/About_us.html « hide
