Hilltop Hoods are the pinnacle of Australian Hip Hop. The group formed when Pressure and Suffa met at high school in the early '90's, and recruiting DJ Debris later. They have since led the charge for Aussie Hip Hop, and have released their fifth album, State of the Art, in 2009, along with reissues of The Calling, The Hard Road, and The Hard Road Restrung. Hilltop Hoods are the pinnacle of Australian Hip Hop. The group formed when Pressure and Suffa met at high school in the early '90's, and recruiting DJ Debris later. They have since led the charge for Aussie Hip Hop, and have released their fifth album, State of the Art, in 2009, along with reissues of The Calling, The Hard Road, and The Hard Road Restrung. The Hilltop Hoods are part of the Certified Wise crew, which includes similar Australian hip hop artists and groups, such as Pegz, Muph & Plutonic, Vents, and their most familiar partners, the Funkoars. The Certified Wise work together and appear in each other's albums and songs, with the Hilltop Hoods working in many of their co-workers' songs, such as What I Want by Funkoars, and This is for Life by Pegz. The Hilltop Hoods have had extreme success in the music business, even having the hit The Nosebleed Section being voted as number 17 in the Triple J's Hottest 100 of All Time, making it the highest placed Australian song, the highest placed hip-hop song and the highest placed song from the 21st century in the countdown, and having their own shoe design, sponsored by DC Shoes, making the Hilltop Hoods the only Australian music group to have their own shoe design. « hide |
