South Californian sludge band, 16, was initially named 15 due to the founding members in their early twenties wrongfully having fifteen year old girlfriends at the time of their inception in 1992. Soon they were to realise from a punk magazine that 15 was already taken by, so 16 logically became the next best thing. They went through a few hiccups but managed to press the 7" EP Doorprize in 1992, which was greeted with fairly warm reviews. A year later, Curves that Kick was released as a fully fledged album with grunt and power at its wheels.

Time went by, and 16 still kept at it in the studio, releasing Drop Out and Blaze of Incompetence before the 90s came to a close. The next decade wouldn't see as much prevalence in the group, despite its continuation of hard driving sound, but 2009 did see the them reform to release the much anticipated Bridges to Burn. « hide
