Reinhold Friedl founded Zeitkratzer in 1997 in Podewil, where it developed its artistic profile. In 2001, Zeitkratzer were artists-in-residence, and in
2002, associated artists. The group now releases many of its collaborative projects under its own label,Zeitkratzer Records.
