For many Philadelphia's Starkweather are still an untapped band for the masses yet they have been cited as influence to many of today's topselling metal/hardcore bands. Metal Maniacs says on an early listen to Croatoan, their long await-ed new album, "rare is a band whopersonify, quite accurately, agony and despair through tranquil yet devouring movements. One of underground metal's soon-to-be classics, allhail Starkweather!" Produced by Pierre Remillard (Cryptopsy) and featuring artwork by renowne dartist Paul Romano (Mastodon, Earth, Godflesh), Croatoan is theresult of years of meticulous work. Perfectionists in every regard, Starkweather have nurtured the album (as they have their entire career) intheir own way. And through it all, the band as always deliver a quality recording, a memorable performance and a charisma that is all theirown. Formed in 1990, Starkweather have two full-length albums as well several seven-inch recordings and compilation collaborations. Croatoan, released overseas in late 2005 on vinyl only (featuring exclusive artwork also from Paul Romano) via Hypertension Records, is the band'sfirst new recording in over five years. The band toured Europe for the first time in mid-2005, visiting the Netherlands, Germany, England,France and other countries. The band plans to visit again during the year. The band are confirmed to open for Emperor on the band's farewellNew York dates with additional American dates expected and to be announced shortly. Croatoan features guest performances from Liam Wilson (Dillinger Escape Plan) and Jim Winters (Earth Crisis/Turmoil). Mathcore band, Dillinger Escape Plan claims that Starkweather were one of their main influences. New album is called "Into The Wire / Crossbearer" and is going to be released sometime in 2007 for Candlelight Records. In August of 2009, Starkweather was picked up by the hardcore/metalcore label, Deathwish « hide
