Rosetta was formed during the summer of 2003 in Philadelphia. It consists of Michael Armine, who manipulates sounds and vocalizes, David Grossman, who plays the bass, Bruce McMurtrie Jr., who provides percussion, and J. Matthew Weed, who plays the guitar and occasionally the violin.In 2004 Translation Loss records expressed interest in releasing some recordings made by this group of people, thus the 2xCD "Galilean Satellites" was born. It was released in early fall of 2005. Their latest album - Quintessential Ephemera, released in 2015 - showcases a more melodic approach to the music, thanks to the addition of clean vocals.
