During the years of 1994-95, Dan Swanö started a side project named Nightingale, which was suppose to be a one time album project to pay tribute to the Gothic Rock band, The Sisters of Mercy. During the years of 1994-95, Dan Swanö started a side project named Nightingale, which was suppose to be a one time album project to pay tribute to the Gothic Rock band, The Sisters of Mercy. Swanö did just that - he recorded and mixed The Breathing Shadow in one week, and the release got enough attention that Swanö had no other choice but to go with the concept he already started. In 1996 Swanö continued the story line that was present on the debut for Nightingale and released The Closing Chronicles which showed a more drastic change in style from the goth rock sound to a progressive/1970's AOR rock. Swanö then continued the project and made a prelude concept to The Breathing Shadow after he quit Edge of Sanity. In 2000 I was released with the help of his brother Dag Swanö.In 2003 Nightingale saw the release of their fourth album Alive Again, which had more of a Rush influence and followed the Breaathing Shadow concept as part four, along with the arrival of two permanent positions on bass (Erik Oskarsson) and drums (Tom Björn). The following year the band released Invisible, the first song "Still Alive" continues and ultimately finishes the Breathing Shadow concept, while the rest of the songs have no conceptual connections. In 2005 the band re-record some older material off of their first three albums along with an Edge of Sanity cover and one new song - the compilation was entitled Nightfall Overture. In 2007 the saw release of White Darkness. Somewhere around 2010ish Dan Swanö talked about a new Nightingale album tentatively entitled Bravado. The band has yet to release the album, but on Dan Swanö's homepage of www.unisound.se the "Work in Progress" section is saying Nightingale will be working on the album this year of 2012.http://www.myspace.com/nightingalesweden « hide |
