Artas was founded in Vienna, Austria in 2006, under the name of Dust and Shadows. In 2007, the band participated at Metalchamp competition in the finals at the Metal Camp Festival, she was named the winner. This victory gave the members a contract with the European metal label Napalm Records. Shortly afterwards, Dust and Shadows was renamed 'Artas', and the band went into the studio with the help of producer Jacob Hansen (Heaven Shall Burn, etc.) for their debut album. In 2009, Artas was touring as support for Hatesphere and in 2010 supporting German metalcore act Callejon (who were on their Videodrom album tour). On January 28th, 2011, their sophomore album 'Riotology' was released.
