Formed in 1989, Archgoat was one of the first Finnish black metal bands and played a style of black metal that was primitive and raw.Comparisons are often made between them and Beherit, and there is a more noticeable death metal influence in Archgoat's music. Afterreleasing two demos and an EP (which was later to be used on a split with Beherit in 1999), Archgoat disbanded, citing the over-commercialstate of the black metal scene as their reason.

Archgoat reformed in 2004, and released an EP that contained remastered versions of tracks recorded in 1993. They retained their originalline-up of Lord Angelslayer (Vocals, bass); and Ritual Butcherer (Guitar), with the exception of Blood Desecrator, who was replaced by asession drummer (Leneth the Unholy Carnager). Later, Sinister Karppinen joined the band as full-time drummer.
Archgoat released their long-awaited debut full-length, Whore of Bethlehem, in 2006 to mixed critical reception and a split with Black Witcheryis planned for the near future. « hide |
