“Hybrid hip hop.” “Grimey poetry." “Revolutionary rap with that hardcore swag.” joe DOE's music has been described many ways, probably because it comes from many directions. DOE spent six years traveling the US, collaborating with other artists and playing live shows in different states. He took a little piece of every scene that he was a part of and incorporated it into his own sound, already inspired by multiple genres. The versatile but perfectly balanced blend is powerfully portrayed in DOE’s latest release, Mostly Recycled. The epic artcore style of Mostly Recycled is built on a foundation of hip hop rhythm mixed with the attitude of metal and punk, prone to gothic and electronic mood swings. joe DOE’s lyrics are intelligent and intricate - carefully crafted verses weave in and out of catchy hooks. His range of topics is a spectrum (from social-political commentary, personal struggle and corruption of the music industry to simply partying and showing love to horror movies and his fellow indie artists), sometimes sprinkled with sarcasm and dark imagery, always passionate and ultimately delivering a positive message amidst the chaos. DOE is a rare breed of artist that can capture the hearts and minds of listeners through true creative expression rather than clichés and gimmicks, and Mostly Recycled is the pinnacle of this ability. An absurdly active recording artist, joe DOE creates music under various aliases, in various genres. He writes about 100 songs each year and has recorded at least two full-length albums every year since 2003. His back catalog is massive. Other claims to fame include song placement on The Colbert Report and working as composer and sound designer for the upcoming video game Precipice. Near future goals include further placement in film/TV/video games and completing the prequel to his 2010 concept album Democalypse. « hide
