In April 2010, David Ratté, cinematic music composer leading the instrumental
project Man an Ocean, writes the first songs of what will become folk band
Will Driving West. In May, he asks his friend Andréa Bélanger, professional bass
player with several hundred shows under her belt, to lend her voice to some tracks of
the new project. A strong chemistry immediatly develops between the two
musicians but it’s not until the arrival a few days later of Camille Paquette-Roy,
master’s degree in cello at McGill University, that the band is complete. In less than
four months, they achieve the composition and recording of ‘The Breakout’, their first
album, launched digitally on October 10, 2010 (10/10/10).
