Thumb was founded in the german city of Guetersloh by Claus Grabke (vocals), Axel Hilgenstoehler (guitars), Steffen Wilmking (drums), Jan-Hendrik Meyer (bass) and Jens 'Lupe' Goessling (turntables). Before Thumb, all members made a name for themselves in various other bands, as tattoo-shop owners, or being pretty successfull with sports like skateboarding (Claus Grabke has won multiple Skateboard European Masterships).
Because of that background, Thumb played on the Vans Warped Tour '97, and their songs can be found in various Skate- & Snowboard videos. The first album was released 1995, two ...read more

Because of that background, Thumb played on the Vans Warped Tour '97, and their songs can be found in various Skate- & Snowboard videos. The first album was released 1995, two years after the founding of the band. After the release of 'Exposure', the band paused for four years, and almost broke up.
The guitarist left the band, and was replaced for one album by Axel Pralat of Waterdown. The Album '3' was released in 2001. After Axel went back to Waterdown, the band plans to record an album with the original cast. « hide |
