John MacLean, is an American electronic
musician based out of Providence, Rhode
Island. Maclean was guitarist for the indie
Dance-punk band Six Finger Satellite,
based in Providence. The band was struck
by several tragedies, and Maclean
eventually moved into production duties,
utilizing his home studio in Providence.
Eventually MacLean took a break from
music, but was pulled back by close friend
James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), who
convinced him to get back behind the

With Nancy Whang (vocalist from LCD) in
tow, MacLean has produced two albums --
2005's 'Less Than Human' and 2009's 'The
Future Will Come'. Their sound is similar
to other dance-punk acts of DFA, yet the
Juan Maclean seem to distinguish
themselves from their peers by way of
long, trance inducing songs that are able
to bring themselves back to their dance
