For a long time The Forrest Gump Mile High Marathon was a project on the tip of Burn Them All guitarist Brandon Moran’s tongue, but did not finally see life until late 2009. By this time Burn Them All had been playing shows around the Long Island, NY area for about a year and became friendly with other local death metal bands, including the Long Island black/melodeath metal act Praeter Morte. In the fall of 2009, Brandon started jamming with PM’s vocalist Chris Carlisle and drummer Tim Schmidt, along with former Praeter Morte guitarist Matt Kiedasch and a friend of his, bassist Bobby Krieger. Together the 5 wrote the first few songs that would become the beginnings of their strict beatdown/slam groove style, including I May Not Be a Smart Man, But I Know What Love Is and Sorry I Had a Fight in the Middle of your Black Panther Party. After a few months, Matt Kiedasch stopped showing up to practice and guitarist Danny Trapani (Praeter Morte, Whorelord) was asked to fill in. His style seemed to be a perfect match for the direction that TFGMHM was going for, so he quickly became a permanent fixture of the band. A few more songs were written, a short demo was recorded, and in February of 2010 TFGMHM played their first show at Fin’s Pub in Oakdale, Long Island. « hide
