The Common Linnets are a Dutch band that formed in 2013 for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. The band members are individual artists Ilse DeLange and Waylon, who have known each other for years before the formation of the duo. Their song "Calm After the Storm", which is on their debut album The Common Linnets, reached the second place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and was a hit in Europe.
Shortly after the contest, Waylon decided to part ways with Ilse. She toured as The Common Linnets with JB Meyers (who was already involved with the first line up of the band and co-wrote some of the songs), Jake Etheridge, and father and son Rob and Matthew Crosby. This line up, minus Rob, released the aptly titled second album II in 2015.
