The 101'ers

The 101'ers was Joe Strummer's pub rock band before joining The Clash in 1976. The 101'ers never officially released an album while they were together but had a string of singles and toured constantly. The band ended in 1976 when Joe was asked by Mick Jones and Paul Simonon to join The Clash with them and help in the British punk revolution. It wasn't until 1981 when anything official was released by The 101'ers in which an album was put out of a large amount of their material, live, studio, covers, were put onto a vinyl record entitled Elgin Avenue Breakdown which consisted of twelve songs. In 2005 a definitive compilation was released containing the first album and new rarities and live songs.
