To celebrate 25 years of existence, world leading alternative record label Roadrunner Records decided to do something a little different. The idea
was to assemble a band entirely from members of bands which have at one time or another featured on the label's pay roll and record a single

To celebrate 25 years of existence, world leading alternative record label Roadrunner Records decided to do something a little different. The idea
was to assemble a band entirely from members of bands which have at one time or another featured on the label's pay roll and record a single
song. This idea continued to grow, develop and matured. Instead of Roadrunner assembling a band for a single song, what about an entire album.
And instead assembling one super band, why not have teams with designated captains. From here Roadrunner United was born.4 captains were
selected: Joey Jordison (Slipknot, Murderdolls), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory, Brujeria), the reluctant Rob Flynn (Machine Head) and Max
Cavalera (ex-Sepultra, Soulfly). Each captain was told to go through the Roadrunner Roster and select whoever they wanted and record songs
under their direction. The only rule was once an artist had been drafted by a captain they could not be used by any other captain. Not long after
this process begain Max Cavalera had to resign as captain due to the new Soulfly release, Dark Days. One captain down Roadrunner turned to
their new talent and its lead songwriter, Matt K. Heafy (Trivium). With the new 4 captains in charge 57 artists from 45 bands were selected. 18
songs were released in what would be one of the top musical accomplishments of 2005. « hide |
