Ordnance

Ordnance are a death metal band from Melbourne, Australia. Formed in 2011 they spent their early days practicing and playing friends house parties and small venues. The band plays a harsh and organic style of death metal that is nonetheless accessible and dynamic. The music has complexity and simplicity yet for all it's harshness is still infused with a strong melodic element. Thematically and artistically, the group veers toward cosmic horror, science fiction and sociopolitical corruption, always delivered with spastic grit and a real sense of storytelling. Ordnance are optimistic about music but deeply cynical about the industry and world surrounding it - they have a strong commitment to their songs and to their live shows and it is clear they value content over image. http://ordnanceofficial.bandcamp.com/ Their debut EP "Blight" was released in 2012 - recorded live in a day and a half at a friends house, the sessions for Blight were shut down by local police just after useable takes of all songs were completed. The band played many small and extremely fun local shows in support of Blight but due to a strong independent streak and no budget, the EP was largely ignored. 5 years and 4 drummers after their inception, Ordnance released their first LP "Echelon" in January 2016. Taking 2 years to finish due to a disastrous run of drummers (and subsequent hiatus from playing live), the album is a technical and lyrical step above Blight. Recorded again in a friends house, Echelon features 10 tracks and careens from tight claustrophobic death metal to eccentric melodic interludes. « hide
