From 1982-1988, Ashton, Maryland’s No Trend created some uniquely anti-establishment music, incorporating elements ofpunk, avant-garde, metal,andcountry into a sound (or perhaps cacophony) that was unmistakably their own. Jeff Mentges, one of the band’s founders, seemingly despised the clique that hardcore had become. Jack Anderson (bass)admits that they “did notplayhardcore music, but did play hardcore shows.
