SIGNAL REX and BISNAGA RECORDS are proud to present the highly anticipated debut album of MOASE, Vertigo. A sweeping,
dramatically dynamic panorama of post-rock/metal bliss, Vertigo radiates light and darkness in equal measures, and proves that
MOASE are potent newcomers with a veteran spirit.

An acronym for "Memoirs of a Secret Empire," MOASE comprises the members Henrique Bessa, Ivo Madeira, and João Amorim and
was born in 2012 in Vouzela, Portugal, between the mountains and the river. By now, this project has the stamp of Blacksheep
Studios in both their self-titled EP and their forthcoming debut album, Vertigo. The latter counts a collaboration with Ricardo
Remédio (LÖBO, RA).
As a totally independent release, MOASE's self-titled EP was praised by specialized critics and was among many "best EPs" lists for
2013. That EP also served as the foundation for the band's live set in various venues all across their home country of Portugal,
either as a headliner or as opening act for bands such as Swain (ex-This Routine is Hell) or Maybeshewill.
In September 2015, MOASE joined Juseph on a collaboration that began that year’s Amplifest, a Portuguese festival that featured
Amenra, Converge, and Altar of Plagues among others. Hard Club’s Room 1 was filled to see these two bands share a stage that
looked too small for such intensity. Besides the individual sets, the two bands played an original song together.
With their roots bound to underground doom and contemplative dramatic ambiance, MOASE’s sonority evolved through atmospheric
landscapes filled with dark moments, giving them an identity of heavy musicality that comes to life with Vertigo. To celebrate its
momentous birth, Vertigo will be streamed for the first time at this year's Amplifest, and MOASE will be touring across Portugal with
labelmates LÖBO this October. « hide |
