Laila Ad?

Laila Adéle was meant the new soul-queen of Sweden after Robyn who took Asia under her arms. Laila released her first soul-album on SONY/BMG wich went well but wasn't a huge success. Now, 5 years later, she releases her second album Gratitude, which is more pure soul, the american way.

Gratitude was released all-digital; on iTunes world-wide and also on a USB-stick (!), which the label Kaschmir seems to be one of the first doing, after a punk-band in Canada doing a similar thing. The USB-stick includes the album as MP3s, album info, lyrics and pictures.

Now, what's Gratitude like. Well, that's the reason I'm writing this. I picked up Gratitude by a friend who recomended it, and I must say, it sounds damn good. However, I'm suprised it doesn't sound so Swedish-produced, you know like all the innovative Britney SPears, Backstreet Boys and those producers. This sounds more american soul-fulish, but has a touch of european house-music aswell.

However, I thought it was pretty interesting releasing an album on a USB-stick and digitally world-wide. So check out Laila Adele on iTunes. If you like true soul, i bet you'll like it. Also see the album website www.kaschmir.se/lailaadele for some snippets.

Have a most joyful spring. /Adam « hide
