Keith Hudson

Known as the "Dark Prince of Reggae" Hudson was born in Kingston in 1946. He started in the music business as a roadie for the groundbreaking Jamaican band the Skatalites. His big break came in 1974 when he released his influential album "Pick a Dub". The album became popular in Jamaican dancehalls due to its heavy drums and thumping bass, it is cited as one of the most important albums in the Dub genre. Hudson kept up a steady career until his death in 1984. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer earlier that year and on November 4th collapsed after complaining of stomach pains.
