It is unrelated to the sleeping disorder insomnia.Insomnium's sound has grown into even slower and more progressive death metal during the years, with occasional doom metal influences(some of theirinfluences reflect an approach to metal similar to Amorphis's Tales from the Thousand Lakes album). The original hallmarks ofthe band's Scandinavianmelodic death metal are very scarce, as the band has turned into a more epic approach. The melodies are highlymelancholic, and the overall sound ismuch darker. The band's lyrics tend to be influenced (and occasionally taken) from classic poets likeHölderlin, Edgar Allan Poe, Finnish classic Eino Leinoand other literature.Insomnium is: Niilo Sevanen (vocals, bass guitar); Ville Friman,(guitar) Ville Vanni (guitar); Markus Hirvonen (drums). « hide |
