Helen 55 formed in California’s North Hollywood Arts District, in 1997. Their first release, a 3-song cassette featuring “Dumb Summer”, gained them fans worldwide via internet tape trading. The group quickly established themselves, performing regularly at venues like The Whisky a Go-Go and The Roxy Theatre, with notable acts such as System of a Down, Papa Roach, Thrice, and many more.

Helen 55 formed in California’s North Hollywood Arts District, in 1997. Their first release, a 3-song cassette featuring “Dumb Summer”, gained them fans worldwide via internet tape trading. The group quickly established themselves, performing regularly at venues like The Whisky a Go-Go and The Roxy Theatre, with notable acts such as System of a Down, Papa Roach, Thrice, and many more.
By Jan 2000, the group enlisted a new drummer and self-released their first CD, “Amped”. A feature on MTV’s “Snowed In Undercover”, and an interview by Matt Pinfield for Farmclub TV, helped solidify the group as an up-and-coming “buzz band”.
Despite the recognition from fans and industry alike, the group disbanded in 2002. They came together in Jan 2010 to perform a one-off show, honoring the 10th anniversary of “Amped”. Later that year saw the release of “Helen 55”, a 10-song album originally recorded in 1998, but previously unreleased. The group officially reunited in 2018 to work on new music, and once again hit the stage in Jan 2020 for the 20th anniversary of “Amped” live performance in their hometown of North Hollywood, CA.
The new album, “SLEEP | DEATH” (pronounced “The Fine Line Between Sleep and Death”) was released worldwide through Horus Music Limited on Friday, July 30th, 2021. « hide |
