Conceived under the oppressive air of military dictatorship, Grupo um are one of the most daring instrumental groups in Brazil's history. Formed in the mid-'70s while playing in Hermeto Pascoal's band, Um fused avant-garde ideals with contemporary jazz and Afro-Brazilian rhythm.
